How long is the tour?
The Big Store tour runs about 4.5 hours long. Depending on the size of the group, the tour may be a little bit shorter or longer.
How many people are on the tour?
Group size varies from tour to tour. Our preferred group size is 20 guests or less. We aim for a high level of personalized attention on all tours. Our guides are trained to provide a significant amount of guide/guest interaction to insure the best possible tour experience.
Is transportation included?
Yes, we take public transportation, the subway, to get from store to store. This tour also requires a good amount of walking, so please wear comfortable shoes and dress weather appropriately.
Where will we be shopping?
We will be shopping at all of NYC’s most famous department stores including Saks, Bloomingdales, Macy’s and Century 21. This tour also visits shops on Fifth Avenue including Tiffany’s, Henri Bendel and Barney’s on Madison Avenue. Our guides are experts at determining the interests of a group and choosing stops that are appropriate for the group as a whole. Please feel free to tell your guide of any particular shopping interests you may have and they will do their best to incorporate related stops into the tour.
How much time do we spend shopping?
This tour is designed to give you time to shop at all stops with significant shopping time at Bloomingdales and Macy’s. You will be left at Century 21 so you can browse its endless discount racks at your leisure.
Are there any places to stop and rest along the route?
Most of the major department stores have seating.
Is lunch included?
Lunch is not included. Bloomingdales and Macy’s have a variety of concessions to buy lunch or a snack. There are also places to grab a quick bite in the neighborhoods we will be in. Eat a hearty breakfast before the tour to maximize your shopping time!
Should I tip my guide?
It is a customary and very appreciated gesture to tip your tour guide at the end of the tour.
